Ireland

Ireland is a unitary republic with a parliamentary form of government. In the Economist Democracy Index 2024, it received an overall score of 9.33/10 ("full democracy") and an 10/10 rating for electoral processes and pluralism. The country is a member of the European Union.

The head of state is the president (Uachtarán), but executive power rests in the cabinet headed by the Taoiseach (prime minister).
